I've sat in the back of one at a motor show. The deception of amputees-only rear space comes from the seat squab being quite long, but actually unless there's a tall person up front you've got just enough legroom back there.

What I found a problem at barely 6ft tall was headroom. As I leaned back into the rear seat my head brushed the headliner pretty much the whole time, and I had to hunch down a little bit to not be touching it. This I feel would not be great if the car went over a large bump in the road...

I don't now if it is bigger or smaller than a Toyobaru, but I'm 6' and about 230 lbs. and fit in the back of one if the seat isn't all the way back.

Well, I put my twin girls (in car seats) in the back of my RX-8 all the time.
